Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an ultrasonic image pickup using a microballoon contrast medium without depending on second harmonic wave by forming an image on the basis of the change of echo signal by scintillation of microballoons.
SOLUTION: A transceiver part TRX successively scans the inner part of a subject OBJ with a sound ray through an ultrasonic probe PRB and receives the echo, and a CFM processing part CMP orthogonally detects the echo received signal followed by MTI processing, determines the self-correlation to determines the average flow velocity from the self-correlation result, and further determines the dispersion and power. When the sound ray passes the part where a contrast medium is present, the data showing the scintillation distribution of microballoons BLN on the sound ray is formed. An image processing part IMP stores the CFM data every sound ray in a sound ray data memory, and the image processing circuit forms a color image data on the basis of the average flow velocity data and the dispersion data within the sound ray data memory.
