The ophthalmic ultrasonic probe that has an ultrasonic wave transmitting section therein for making the ultrasonic probe scan to obtain a cross-sectional image of an area in an eye includes: holding means for holding an ultrasonic wave transmitting section so as to axially move forward and backward within the probe, and when the probe end comes into contact with the subject's eye, the focus of ultrasonic wave beams emitted from the ultrasonic probe can move at least to a first position near the retina and to a second position near the crystalline lens closer to the cornea; and drive means for moving the ultrasonic wave transmitting section made movable forward and backward by the holding means, the drive means having a drive source to generate drive force to move the ultrasonic wave transmitting section or an operation member to transmit moving force given by an operator.
