Abstract:
To provide a method and a system requiring a small vertical space in transferring a canister filled with spent nuclear fuel from a transfer cask to a receiving cask.
In one aspect of this application, this system comprises: an under ground opening adapted for receiving the cask; a platform positioned within the opening and vertically movable; and at least two jacks for vertically moving the platform. The platform is capable of lowering the cask in the opening.
