Abstract:
To provide a nuclear reactor fuel comprising an actinide nitride such as uranium nitride suitable for use in a nuclear reactor including substantially use of thermal neutron fission such as a light-water, heavy-water or gas-cooled nuclear reactor.
This nuclear reactor fuel contains nitrogen with at least about 50%, most preferably about 95%, of enriched 15N. The fuel is formed into a particle shape, a pellet shape, a ring shape, and other shape having a high ratio of a surface area to a volume.
