To provide a vacuum cleaner that improves the visibility of a deposition state of dust in a dust collecting chamber.
The vacuum cleaner has an electric blower 1, the dust collecting chamber 2 communicatively arranged on a suction side of the electric blower 1 to collect dust, and a suction unit 5 having an opening for sucking up dust on a floor. A member forming the dust collecting chamber 2 and/or a member covering an opening of the dust collecting chamber 2 is formed at least partly from a transparent or translucent material. An illuminating part 8 is disposed to illuminate the interior of the dust collecting chamber 2 at least through the part formed from the transparent or translucent material. Dust in the dust collecting chamber 2 is thus easier to check from outside.
