To provide a vehicle and a charging cable capable of performing charging by reflecting a user's intention and selecting a charging mode without troubling a user as much as possible.
This hybrid vehicle includes: an electric storage device 150 which outputs electric power for driving the vehicle; motor generators 110, 120 and inverters 210, 220 which receive electric power from an external power source positioned outside the vehicle and charging the power into the electric storage device as a power receiving portion; and an ECU 170 which is set to previously switch an operation mode of the power receiving portion prior to charging and controls the power receiving portion as a control portion based on the operation mode. The operation mode includes a first mode for prioritizing charging in a predetermined time zone and a second mode for starting charging upon connection of the power receiving portion with the external power source regardless of the predetermined time zone.
