Abstract:
To provide a crash box for a vehicle which can suppress a reduction in a cross-sectional area compared to a conventional crash box when having a step-like truncated polygonal weight structure.SOLUTION: A crash box 10 for a vehicle includes a base part 20, a front step part 30, and a rear step part 40. The base part 20 has a maximum cross-sectional area of a polygonal cross section orthogonal to a vehicle longitudinal directional axis. In the front step part 30, the cross-sectional area of the polygonal cross section gradually decreases for each step toward a front part from the base part 20. In the rear step part 40, the cross-sectional area of the polygonal cross section gradually decreases for each step toward a rear part from the base part 20. Thus, the crash box 10 for the vehicle has such a dual truncated polygonal weight structure that step-like truncated polygonal weights are mutually inverted in the vehicle longitudinal direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
