PURPOSE: To return an optical system to a position where it can always freely turn in both directions when vibration insulating action is started by surely returning the optical system to the middle position of a turnable range by initialization whenever a vibration insulating action is completed.

CONSTITUTION: A vibration insulator is provided with an initial position driving means 23 returning the optical system to the almost center position of the turnable range of the optical system, based on the output of a position detecting means 21 after a vibration correcting means 22 detects the shaking vibration speed of the optical system and correct the shaking vibration by turning the optical system in its shaking vibration deadening direction. Therefore, whenever the vibration insulating action is completed, the optical system can be surely returned to the middle position of the turnable range by the initialization. Thus, when the vibration insulating action is started, the optical system has been always returned to the position, where it can freely turn in both directions, and can prepare for next vibration insulating action.
