Abstract:
PURPOSE:To speedily and exactly execute the position matching of both a standard pattern and an input pattern even when a noise is included in the standard pattern and the input pattern by counting the number of black picture elements, which continues in the horizontal scanning direction of the input pattern, with a counter and regarding a pattern as the noise when a counting value is smaller than a threshold. CONSTITUTION:The title device has a means 12 which can execute enough noise removal in a memory 4 to store the standard pattern. The number of the black picture elements, which continues in the horizontal scanning direction of the input pattern, is counted and when the counting value is smaller than the threshold, this pattern is regarded as the noise and the comparing and collating operation of the pattern is interrupted. Further, in the process of collation between the input pattern and the standard pattern by a comparing and collating means 23, when a coincidence degree is lower than the threshold, the pattern to be inputted up to the moment is regarded not as a recognized object and the comparing and collating operation is interrupted. Then, after the black picture element is next detected again in the input pattern, the reading of the standard pattern and the comparison and collation of the input pattern are repeated. Thus, even when the unnecessary pattern such as the noise, etc., is included in the input pattern of the recognized object, the unnecessary pattern can be removed without fail.
