Title:
WASTE GAS CLEANING ELEMENT AND NITROGEN OXIDE CLEANING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3784956
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose and remove nitrogen oxide efficiently at a small electric current by allowing a nitrogen oxide decomposition reaction to proceed under coexistence of oxygen, ionizing the oxygen produced by decomposition and passing through a solid electrolyte, and suppressing passage of the oxygen in coexistence through solid electrolyte through ionization of the oxygen.
SOLUTION: This cleaning element carries one or more oxides selected from ruthenium oxide, molybdenum oxide, tungsten oxide and one or more metal components selected from silver, palladium, gold and platinum on a cathode side of a solid electrolyte having oxygen ion conductivity and carries one or more metal components selected from silver, palladium, gold and platinum on an anode side of the solid electrolyte having oxygen ion conductivity. Voltage is applied on this waste gas cleaning element and oxygen and waste gas containing nitrogen oxide are brought into contact with each other at the cathode side so as to remove the nitrogen oxide.
