PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base fluororesin dispersion which exhibits excellent ultraviolet-absorbing and light-stabilizing effects and can be used for a clear coating material for outdoor use by selecting a water-base dispersion of a fluororesin in which at least one site selected from ultraviolet-absorbing sites and light-stabilizing sites in the molecule is covalently fixed.
SOLUTION: In the seed polymn. of a polymerizable unsatd. monomer in an aq. medium in the presence of particles of a fluororesin (A), a reactive monomer (B) having an ultraviolet-absorbing site and a reactive monomer (C) having a light-stabilizing site are copolymerized to give a water base dispersion of a fluororesin wherein at least one site selected from among ultraviolet-absorbing sites and light-stabilizing sites is covelently fixed. Fluororesin A includes a copolymer resin obtd. from a fluoroolefin (pref. vinylidend fluoride) and another monomer and a composite resin comprising a fluoroolefin polymer and another polymer. An example of monomer B is a methacrylate or cyanoacrylate having an ultraviolet absorbing site of a benzotriazole type. An example of monomer C is a methacrylic ester of a light stabilizer having on OH group.
