Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device in which a hermetic sealing characteristic of a seal is maintained and at the same time a rotational friction of the seal is reduced and a life of the bearing is extended.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a wheel bearing device having seals at both ends of an outer member, an outer seal 8 comprises a metallic ring 11 installed at an inner base part 4b of a wheel fixing flange 4 and a core grid 13 press fitted to an outer circumference of an outer end part of an outer member 10, each of magnets 14, 15 is connected to opposing surfaces of the core grid 13 and the metallic ring 11 and a fluid seal 12 having magnetic oil 16 poured between these magnets is constituted, so that it is possible to keep a hermetic seal characteristic of the seal 8, reduce a rotational friction of the seal 8 and extend a life of the bearing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
