Abstract:
To achieve a single antenna which reconciles both the functions of a low-gain antenna and a high-gain antenna.
In an array antenna including two or more radiating elements 7, each radiating element 7 includes a phase shift/amplitude adjustment device 19. By using the phase shift/amplitude adjustment device 19, a phase and amplitude which excite the radiating element 7 are set as a desired value. An antenna beam width can be arbitrarily changed by adjusting the phase/amplitude adjustment device 19, and by changing only a phase or a phase and amplitude. For example, the beam width can be expanded by making phase distribution into a shape of a spherical wave, or by making it phase distribution corresponding to two or more plane waves.
