Title:
WORK ROLL FOR COLD ROLLING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3447361
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a work roll capable of cold rolling while low wear resistance is secured by forming the structure of the surface layer of a roll of an amorphous alloy essentially consisting of iron transition metal elements and carbon and dispersedly precipitating carbon with graphite as a main existing form.
CONSTITUTION: The surface layer 2 of the main body 1 of a forged steel work roll for cold rolling is formed of a matrix constituted of an amorphous allay essentially consisting of iron, transition metal elements and carbon and in which carbon is dispersedly precipitated with graphite as a main existing form. As for carbon, the maximum concn. is preferably regulated to about 45 to 80 atomic %, and as for graphite precipitates, the ratio of ones having about ≤20nm particle size is preferably regulated to about ≥90%. Thus, rolling under high pressure in which seizing is generated in the case of the conventional roll or the use of a rolling lubricating oil with low viscosity are made possible, and a sheet having high gloss can be produced. Moreover, adhesion between the roll and rolled sheet is small, so that the generation of worn particles can be suppressed.
