Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine that enables good stratified combustion even when twin eddies are generated.SOLUTION: In a spark ignition type internal combustion engine for performing stratified combustion by injecting fuel from a cylinder injection valve to a direction opposing to a tumble flow formed in a cylinder, when it is predicted that the tumble flow generated in the cylinder becomes twin eddies flowing from an exhaust valve side to an intake valve side, then inverted in directions opposite to each other and flowing along a wall surface in the cylinder on the basis of a relationship between a tumble ratio and a form of the tumble flow, fuel injection timing is advanced or fuel injection pressure is enhanced, compared to the case where it is predicted that the tumble flow generated in the cylinder does not become the twin eddies on the basis of the relationship between the tumble ratio and the form of the tumble flow.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
