Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a concentration of knocking generation positions and thus detect an abnormality of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A frequency analysis of a waveform of cylinder pressure is performed to detect a first vibration amplitude, a second vibration amplitude and a third vibration amplitude that are vibration amplitudes at different specific frequencies. The first vibration amplitude is a vibration amplitude in a resonance mode in a first direction interconnecting an intake side central portion and an exhaust side central section of a combustion chamber. The second vibration amplitude is a vibration amplitude in a resonance mode in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The third vibration amplitude is a vibration amplitude in a resonance mode in a radial direction relative to the center of the combustion chamber. Ratios between two vibration amplitudes out of the detected three vibration amplitudes that are the first vibration amplitude, the second vibration amplitude and the third vibration amplitude are calculated, respectively. By comparing the calculated ratios with each other, an abnormality of the internal combustion engine is detected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
