Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase generation torque by quickly shifting combustion of an engine to SI (Spark Ignition) combustion when an operation state of the engine enters a SI region from a HCCI (Homogeneous-Charge Compression Ignition) region.SOLUTION: When the number of times of combustion during a period until switching of an operation mode of an exhaust valve to a normal mode for closing the exhaust valve is completed at timing at which the operation mode is advanced more than the valve-closing timing of the exhaust valve at a special mode by an exhaust-side VVL, is not larger than a prescribed number of times, in the case where an operation state of the engine is brought into a SI region when the exhaust valve is operated at the special mode for re-introducing an exhaust gas into a cylinder from an exhaust port by being opened in an intake process, a PCM of the engine switches the combustion of the engine to SI combustion from HCCI combustion before the switching of the operation mode of the exhaust valve to a normal mode is completed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
