PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system, information providing method, and computer program for preventing a deterioration in visibility of a map image and enabling a user to learn weather information.SOLUTION: An information providing system acquires, from an information server 3, information on the weather of a display target area that is an area displayed on a liquid crystal display 15 with a map image 50, when displaying a weather image 65 showing the acquired weather information overlapped on the map image 50, specifies an area where vehicles are likely to travel in the display target area as a movement target area, and displays the weather image 65 while increasing transmissivity of the movement target area compared with the other areas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
