Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of presenting a higher battery performance by forming stable coating over a surface of an anode active material (graphite material).SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery (e.g., lithium ion secondary battery) is provided which comprises an electrode body including a cathode and an anode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The anode includes an anode active material layer mainly comprised of a graphite material. The quantity of an acid functional group in the graphite material is 1 μeq/mor more, and coating containing sulfur (S) atoms and charge carriers is formed over a surface of the graphite material. In one preferable embodiment, the coating containing the sulfur atoms and the charge carriers is derived from a fluorine-containing sulfonic acid compound (e.g., FSOLi) contained in the nonaqueous electrolyte substantially as a sulfur coating formation agent.
