Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable prompt starting at a time of restarting an engine by compression ignition combustion.SOLUTION: A control unit (ECM 100) of a direct injection gasoline engine starting control device (engine system 1) automatically stops the multi-cylinder engine (engine 10) when a predetermined automatic stop condition is satisfied. Furthermore, the control unit initially injects a fuel and performs compression ignition combustion on an air-fuel mixture in cylinders to thereby restart the multi-cylinder engine when a predetermined restarting condition is satisfied. At a time of restarting the multi-cylinder engine, the control unit retards fuel injection timing if a position of a piston of each cylinder in a compression cycle at a time of engine stop is at a top dead center position from fuel injection timing if the position of the piston is at a bottom dead center position and ozone is generated in the cylinder in the compression cycle at the time of the engine stop by an ozone generator 7.
