Abstract:
To prevent a valve stem seal from moving to a fall direction without assembling a fall prevention mechanism into the valve stem seal itself.SOLUTION: A valve stem seal 101 has an assembling structure of a seal unit 101A and a cover ring 101B. In the seal unit 101A, a seal member (an internal elastic body 131, an external elastic body 151) is fixed to a reinforcing ring 111 which is fit into a valve guide 14 for supporting the valve stem 32. The seal member has a seal lip 152 and a backpressure lip 135 at an internal peripheral face, and attaches a gutter spring 155 to an external peripheral face. The cover ring 101B is fixed while making an outward flange sandwiched between a spring pedestal 56 of a cylinder head 11 and a valve spring 57, and accommodates and holds the seal unit 101A by retaining the reinforcing ring 111 by a retainer 172. A protector 173 for covering the gutter spring 155 extends from an internal peripheral face of the retainer 172.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
