Disclosed is an aerial optical cable, comprising a cable core, an inner protection layer (10) covering the cable core, an aramid fiber wrapping layer (11) wrapped around the inner protection layer (10), a middle protection layer (12) covering the aramid fiber wrapping layer (11), a water-blocking strip layer (4) sheathed outside the middle protection layer (12), an armor layer (3) sheathed outside the water-blocking tape layer (4), and an outer protection layer (2) covering the armor layer (3), wherein the armor layer (3) is composed of flat FRP. The aerial optical cable employs a three-layered protection layer structure and can meet the erection intensity of middle and large spans. The armor layer (3) composed of the flat FRP is also added to form a non-metal protection layer with sufficient strength, wherein same can meet the requirements of rat prevention, bird pecking prevention and protection against lightning. In addition, compared with an optical cable using a steel-plastic composite strip armor layer, the aerial optical cable has the advantages of a light weight, being completely dielectric, and easy installation, construction and maintenance.
