Abstract:

A base station associated with a first feature uses a plurality of transmission antennas to transmit wireless signals to user terminals in a cell served by said base station. Said base station is provided with the following: a control unit that notifies the aforementioned user terminals of a multi-antenna transmission mode applied to the transmission of the aforementioned wireless signals; and a transmission unit that uses the aforementioned plurality of transmission antennas to transmit the wireless signals in the multi-antenna transmission mode of which the user terminals were notified. The control unit reduces the number of transmission antennas used in the transmission of the wireless signals so as to reduce the power consumption of the base station. Even after reducing the number of transmission antennas used in the transmission of the wireless signals, the control unit keeps using, with no changes, the multi-antenna transmission mode of which the user terminals were notified.
