Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a sophisticated digital broadcast service in a more preferable manner. Broadcast waves include an identification bit indicating the modulation scheme of a signal transmitted in a first layer, and an identification bit indicating the modulation scheme of a signal transmitted in a second layer. This broadcast reception device is provided with a first receiving/demodulating unit for receiving the broadcast waves and demodulating a 2K broadcast service, and a second receiving/demodulating unit for receiving the broadcast waves and demodulating a 4K broadcast service. The broadcast reception device is configured such that the modulation scheme identifying process in the first receiving/demodulating unit and the modulation scheme identifying process in the second receiving/demodulating unit have a state such that, even when the identification bit indicating the modulation scheme of the signal transmitted in the first layer of the broadcast waves and the identification bit indicating the modulation scheme of the signal transmitted in the second layer thereof indicate the same value, the modulation scheme of the signal transmitted in the first layer is identified in the first receiving/demodulating unit as being synchronous modulation, and the modulation scheme of the signal transmitted in the first layer is identified in the second receiving/demodulating unit as being differential modulation.
