Abstract:
Provided is a charged particle beam irradiation system that can realize respiratory-gated irradiation using X-rays in a charged particle beam irradiation device that is not a rotating gantry type. The charged particle beam irradiation system has: a charged particle beam irradiation device, in which a conveyed charged particle beam, after discharge from an accelerator, can be injected and can exit toward an isocenter; a first X-ray generation section and a first detection section; and a second X-ray generation section and a second detection section. The X-rays generated from the first X-ray generation section and the second X-ray generation section pass through an isocenter and are respectively detected by the first detection section and the second detection section. The first X-ray generation section and the second X-ray generation section are disposed so as to sandwich a virtual plane formed by a plurality of charged particle beam trajectories that can be selected by the charged particle beam irradiation device. The first detection section and the second detection section are positioned upstream or downstream from the first X-ray generation section and the second X-ray generation section where the upstream side is the side where a charged particle beam is incident into the charged particle beam irradiation device and the downstream side is the side where the charged particle beam exits from the charged particle beam irradiation device.
