Abstract:

A compression device comprising a stack formed by stacking a plurality of electrochemical cells in which an electrolyte film is sandwiched by an anode and a cathode, a pair of insulating plates provided on both ends in the stacking direction of the stack, a pair of end plates provided on the outsides of the pair of insulating plates, and a voltage application unit for applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode, a voltage being applied by the voltage application unit, whereby protons extracted from an anode fluid supplied to the anode are moved to the cathode, and concentrated hydrogen is generated, wherein a cathode gas flow channel through which a cathode gas including concentrated hydrogen flows is provided in at least one of the pair of end plates, a first region including the outer peripheral surface of the cathode gas flow channel in the end plate in which the cathode gas flow channel is provided is constituted from a first steel material, and a second region different from the first region is constituted from a second steel material, the first steel material having higher resistance to hydrogen embrittlement than the second steel material, and the second steel material having higher rigidity than the first steel material.
