Abstract:
The present application provides a cross-autonomous system (AS) multicast forwarding method and apparatus. In embodiments of the present application, hierarchical BIERs, i.e., a BFER in a first BIER domain and a BFIR in a second BIER domain, are deployed on an ASBR of an AS, so that the ASBR converts a multicast packet from the first BIER domain and forwards same in the second BIER domain, and thus the problem of cross-AS multicast forwarding caused by a BFR ID conflict in different BIER domains is solved. Furthermore, in the embodiments, cross-AS multicast forwarding can be implemented by simply modifying or upgrading the ASBR of the AS, no impact is caused to an original multicast service or other devices, and expansion is easy to implement.
