Abstract:
Disclosed is a cutting insert having excellent cutting debris discharge properties. A cutting insert (1) is provided with a top surface (2), a bottom surface (3), a side surface (4) that connects with the top surface (2) and the bottom surface (3), and a cutting blade (5) that is positioned at the line of intersection of the top surface (2) and the side surface (4) and that has a main cutting blade (51) and a flat cutting edge (52). The main cutting blade (51) is concave when viewed laterally and has a main cutting section (512) such that the straight edge connecting both sides slants downwards the farther it is from the flat cutting edge (52). A cutting tool (11) is provided with the cutting insert (1) and a holder (10) on which the cutting insert is mounted.
