Abstract:
Disclosed is a display element (2) provided with a soft material (23) sealed in a manner enabling its flexible deformation inside a display space (K) formed between a top substrate (a first transparent substrate) (5) and a bottom substrate (a second transparent substrate) (6), and with a counter electrode (a second electrode) (22) and a pixel electrode (a first electrode) (21) provided on the top substrate (5) side and the bottom substrate (6) side, respectively. The soft material (23) is flexibly deformed according to an electrical field produced between the pixel electrode (21) and the counter electrode (22), and the color displayed on the display surface side is changed by the contact surface areas of the soft material (23) with the top substrate (5) side and the bottom substrate (6) side being changed.
