Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electric toothbrush that: is capable of ensuring the ease of a manual brushing operation by making a handle part thinner, while improving the ease of a switching operation between an operating state and a stopped state; and achieves efficient oral cavity cleaning by automatically providing necessary and sufficient mechanical assistance to a brush part in response to brushing conditions that constantly change during brushing, such as cleaning location, and the way of holding and moving the toothbrush. [Solution] An electric toothbrush is provided with: a brush part (15); a toothbrush body (2) having a handle part (20) for manually operating the brush part (15); a vibration-generating means (3) that causes the brush part (15) to vibrate; an acceleration sensor (4) that senses a manual brushing operation; and a control means (5) that switches at least the vibration-generating means (3) between an operating state and a stopped state on the basis of output from the acceleration sensor (4).
