Abstract:
Disclosed is an exhaust gas purification system for internal combustion engines that is equipped with an addition valve for adding an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent to the exhaust, wherein the occurrence or exacerbation of problems with foreign material in said addition valve, which result from the suction of the oxidizing agent or the reducing agent from within the addition valve, is suppressed. After operation of the internal combustion engine is stopped, suction control, which sucks back the oxidizing agent or the reducing agent accumulating within the addition valve, is executed (S110). In addition, at a prescribed timing prior to the execution of suction control, the oxidizing agent or the reducing agent is added with the purpose of blowing away foreign material that is present within the addition valve or near the injection hole of the addition valve (S107).
