Description:
Facility for mounting of apparatus inserts in a trunking section.

TECHNICAL FIELD The invention refers to a facility or tool for using when mounting apparatus inserts in a trunking section.

BACKGROUND ART A trunking section of the type here referred to comprises a base portion intended to be fixed against a wall or similar, side walls arranged perpendicular to the plane of the base portion and a front portion parallel to the base portion.

The front portion comprises two wall parts parallel to the base portion and arranged on each side of a front opening which reaches all along the trunking section. This front opening is when the trunking section is mounted closed by means of a cover or alternatively apparatus inserts of different kinds. The material of the trunking sections could e. g. be plastic, aluminum, steel or combinations of these materials.

Such trunking sections mounted horisontally or vertically are used to an increasing extent at installations for electrical, telecommunication and data distribution in offices, laboratories, hospitals and workshops etc..

The trunking sections are used not only for accommodation of cables but as indicated above different types of outlets, control means and similar are mounted in the trunking sections in the form of inserts to be snapped into the

front opening of the trunking section. Other mounting alternatives also exist today on the market. These apparatus inserts are electrically connected to cables in the trunking section.

When making the electrical connections at the mounting of an apparatus insert according to the above the installer has today to keep the apparatus insert in one hand which of course makes the connection more difficult and under circumstances can represent a risk.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION One object of the present invention is to provide a facility for facilitating for an installer when mounting apparatus inserts in a trunking section. The tool is arranged to fix the apparatus insert to be mounted so that the installer will be able to work freely with both hands.

The solution according to the invention can dependent on the embodiment be used with horisontal as well as vertical trunking sections.

Considerably shorter time for the mounting, better quality of the connections and under circumstances higher electrical security will be achieved.

In its most simple embodiment the facility can have the form of a suitably bent device of metal or plastic. In other embodiments the facility could advantageously be manufactured by means of extrusion of for instance plastic material.

The invention is characterised according to the enclosed claims.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Further objects and advantages with the invention will be apparent from the following description which is given with reference to the appended drawings on which: Figure 1 shows in a perspective view a trunking section and two facilities according to the invention i different positions.

Figure 2 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a mounted apparatus insert and an insert being mounted using a facility according to the invention.

Figure 3 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a facility according to the invention being mounted.

Figure 4 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a mounted facility according to the invention ready to receive an apparatus insert.

Figure 5 a-d show in section a few different variants of embodiments of the invention.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS A trunking section 1 of the type here referred to thus comprises a base portion 2 intended to be fixed against a wall or similar, side walls 3,4 arranged perpendicular to the plane of the base portion and a front portion parallel to the base portion 2.

The front portion comprises two wall parts 5,6 parallel to the base portion 2 and arranged on each side of a front opening 7 which reaches all along the trunking section 1. The wall parts 5,6 are at the front opening 7 provided with longitudinal flanges 11 reaching in the direction of the inner part of the trunking section parallel to the side walls 3,4. The flanges which provide a possibility to snap in and fix cover elements and apparatus inserts could have somewhat different profiles. The front opening 7 is when the trunking section is mounted closed by means of a cover elements (not shown) or alternatively apparatus inserts of different kinds. The material of the trunking section could according to the above e. g. be plastic, aluminum, steel or combinations of these materials.

The trunking section is thus used for accommodation of cables and could additionally comprise different types of outlets, control means and similar apparatuses in the form of inserts to be snapped into the front opening 7 of the trunking section. The apparatus inserts are electrically connected to cables in the trunking section.

One problem when arranging an apparatus insert in the front opening resides in that the installer has to keep the apparatus insert in one hand while connecting the relevant cables from the inside of the trunking section to the back side of the insert.

The inventive idea now resides in the facilitating for the installer by providing a shelf formed auxiliary tool 10 which is hooked to one of the wall parts 5,6 around the associated flange and on which the apparatus insert that is going to be mounted temporarily could be placed or fixed with the back side available for cable connections. In this way it will be possible for the installer to work with booth hands which increases the speed as well as the security.

In figure 1 is shown an example of a facility 10 according to the invention. In the left part of the figure the facility is positioned to be hooked around the flange 11 and to the right the facility has been hooked onto the flange and is ready for use.

Figure 2 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a mounted apparatus insert 8 and an insert 9 being mounted using a facility according to the invention. The insert 9 has been positioned on the shelf with the electrical connection points easily accessible. After the connection of the cables the insert is lift off from the shelf and the shelf is hooked off from the flange 11 after which the insert is snapped into the front opening 7.

Figure 3 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a facility according to the invention being mounted. The facility which in principle comprises a shelf 12 provides one or several fixing elements each in the form of a hook device 15 arranged at one of the edges of the shelf. By means of the device 15 the shelf is hooked around a flange 11 so that the shelf in the mounted position reaches in the direction out from the front opening 7.

Figure 4 shows in a perspective view a trunking section with a mounted facility according to the invention ready to receive an apparatus insert. The apparatus insert is thus to be placed on the shelf 12 with the electrical connection points accessible from the upper side, cf. Figure 2. As shown in figure 4 the shelf is advantageously somewhat inclined in the mounted position. In order to prevent the insert from sliding off the shelf when the installer works on the same one or several stop means 13 are arranged at the lower edge of the shelf. Additionally one or several fixing rings 14 could be arranged on the upper side of the shelf in order to better fix an electrical outlet of the type indicated with 8 in figure 2.

Figure 1 shows clearly how these rings could be arranged. In order to save material a recess could be made corresponding to the part of the shelf defined by such a fixing ring, cf. Figure 1.

Figure 5 a-d show in section a few different variants of embodiments of the invention.

In figure 5a is shown a very simple embodiment of the invention. This embodiment could advantageously have the form of a suitably bent device of metal or plastic. The facility comprises only the three parts of a shelf 12, one or several stop means 13 and one or several hook devices 15.

In the figure 5b is shown a facility which additionally comprises a support surface 16 on the lower side of the shelf intended to bear against the upper side of the flange 11 in mounted position. An additional support surface 17 is arranged perpendicular to the surface 16 intended to bear against the wall element 5,6 in mounted position. Furthermore the stop means 13 have been provided with a part 18 intended to grip around the edge of the insert in order to better fix the same in position. When it comes to the function this embodiment has great advantages compared to the embodiment according to figure 5a.

From the section it can be concluded that this embodiment of the invention is well suited for manufacturing by means of extrusion.

In the figures 5c and 5d embodiments are shown which additionally comprise one or several snap devices 19 for additionally increasing the fixing of the insert during the connection of the electrical cables. The snap devices could be extruded together with the rest of the facility and possibly afterwards be machined so that they will not reach the full length of the plate 12. As an alternative they could constitute separate details which are mounted on the facility afterwards e. g. by means of screws or similar.

In the embodiment according to figure 5d the hook device 15 has been provided with an insert 20 made of flexible material, e. g. a suitably formed detail of plastic or rubber which makes it possible to use one and the same facility for trunking

sections of somewhat different dimensions. Such an arrangement could also make it possible to use the facility at vertical trunking sections as the friction at longitudinal sliding, of the facility along the trunking section will be greater. As an alternative or complement the support surface 17 could be covered with the same or a similar material.
