Abstract:
A friction spot joining device (1) for performing friction spot joining of a plate material pair (W1, W2) is provided with an advancing/retracting driver (M1) for moving a tool (11) back-and-forth toward the plate material (W1, W2), a rotary driver (M2) for rotating the tool (11), and a controller (4) for controlling the advancing/retracting driver (M1) and the rotary driver (M2). The controller (4) implements joining control for applying pressure to the plate material (W1, W2) with the tool (11) in a state wherein the tool (11) is being rotated and pressing the tool (11) into the plate material (W1, W2), and separation control for separating the tool (11) from the plate material (W1, W2) if an product (P = ID × ΔT × N), which is calculated using the current value (ID) for the rotary driver (M2) during joining control, the drive time (ΔT) during joining control, and the rotational speed (N) of the tool (11), is determined to have reached a target value.
