Abstract:
There are provided an information processing device and a method for enhancing the tamper resistance of an IC chip used in a smart card and a GSM mobile phone. By limiting a register size used by a user, in real time in operation executed in the IC chip, the operation system is changed so that an incorrect operation can be dynamically detected without adding a physical memory. The information processing device limits the size of a general-purpose register used for operation so as to have a plurality of copies of the value, simultaneously processes these values by an operation unit, and inspects the result value, thereby detecting an incorrect operation of the operation unit attributed to an external turbulence.
