Abstract:
The invention relates to an instrument for insertion of an inter-vertebral prosthesis, comprising two prosthesis mountings (52), for a pair of prosthesis plates, connected by a parallel guide (56,57) and which may be opened away from each other. The first prosthesis mounting (52A) is fixed to a long instrument body (51). The second prosthesis mounting (52B) is fixed by the instrument body (51), by means of a parallel guide. The pieces (56,57,100) connecting the second prosthesis mounting (52B) to the instrument body (51) or the first prosthesis mounting (52A), define both sides of a channel-like middle through opening, running along the longitudinal direction of the instrument body (51), the width of which corresponds to at least the transverse dimensions of a prosthesis core (77) for application between the prosthesis plates (53) and the prosthesis core holder (76), provided for the above.
