Abstract:
Disclosed is a light source device from which light waves of three or more wavelengths exit while being multiplexed. Optical members such as optical connectors are not required because optical elements and electrical elements are formed on a semiconductor substrate, and the placement interval is shortened by saving the space required for these optical members. Furthermore, the degree of integration of the optical elements and electrical elements is enhanced by reducing the space required for the wiring of electric circuits. The area can be reduced as compared with the area which is required by a configuration where optical elements and electrical elements are provided together, by forming the optical elements and electrical elements in layers on the same semiconductor substrate.
