Abstract:
The present invention provides a production method for low α-ray barium sulfate particles, said production method being characterized in that: crushed ore obtained by crushing a barite raw ore is subjected to a step (1) in which the silica content is reduced to a predetermined value in accordance with the silica content of the crushed ore and a first product is obtained by carrying out (a) elutriation treatment, (b) sieving treatment, or (c) elutriation treatment and sieving treatment; a step (2) is then carried out in which the first product obtained by the abovementioned treatment(s) is reduced using a reducing agent and barium sulfate obtained as a second product is leached into water to obtain a barium sulfate aqueous solution; and a step (3) is then carried out in which the barium sulfate aqueous solution is subjected to chemical synthesis in order to obtain low α-ray barium sulfate particles.
