Abstract:
An occupant detection device according to the present invention is provided with: an image acquisition unit that acquires an image captured by an image capturing device; a region identification unit that outputs in-image region information that distinguishes, in the image, a region of vehicle equipment, a region of a living body, and a region of an object on a seat from each other; a region estimation unit that uses the in-image region information to estimate, for each living body, a region of interest in a shielded region generated in the image due to the vehicle equipment, the living body being expected to be present in the region of interest; a radio wave sensor data acquisition unit that uses a result of measurement by a radio wave sensor to acquire radio wave intensity data in time series, the radio wave intensity data indicating the distribution of a radio wave intensity of a reflected wave; a detection-enabled region and threshold optimization unit that selects, from among the acquired radio wave intensity data, radio wave intensity data in the region of interest estimated by the region estimation unit; a living body detection unit that uses the selected radio wave intensity data to detect an attribute of the living body; and an occupant information output unit that uses a result of the detection by the living body detection unit to generate occupant information indicating a vehicle occupant, and outputs the occupant information to an occupant information processing device.
