Title:
POSITION SENSOR AND CONTACT NEEDLE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/062010
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The contact tip of a contact body of a position sensor for sensing a work is made of a nonmagnetic material containing tungsten carbide and about 6 to 16% of nickel as a binder. The contact body is connected to a contact sensing circuit in a state where it is electrically insulated. When the contact body is electrically connected through a tool and tool holder of the machine and through the work, the contact sensing circuit is switched on/off to measure the relative position between the work and the tool and tool holder. If the contact body is a thin contact needle, the rod is made of a nonmagnetic material, or preferably an age-hardened material of beryllium copper. Degradation of the measurement accuracy due to magnetization of the contact body is prevented.
