Abstract:
Disclosed is a projection display device wherein the inside of a housing (120) is provided with: a visible light illumination unit; a light bulb that modulates, on the basis of an image signal, a first polarization component included in light outputted from the visible light illumination unit; a projection lens that projects, on a projection surface, light modulated by the light bulb; a detection light source unit (30) that outputs invisible light for detection; and an image pickup element to which a second polarization component included in light based on the invisible light is inputted. The detection light source unit (30) is configured such that the detection light source unit is movable with respect to the housing (120), and that the detection light source unit outputs invisible light in the direction parallel to a projection surface (110) or in the direction forming a fixed angle with the projection surface.
