Title:
REMEDY FOR AMYLOID DISEASES AND DRUG FOR MONITORING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/034757
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A styrylbenzene derivative represented by the following chemical formula (1) has an effect of inhibiting the coagulation or fibrosis of an amyloid protein: wherein R1 and R2 independently represent hydroxyl or carboxyl; and R3 represents fluorine or bromine. Because of being capable of inhibiting a structural change in an amyloid protein accompanying an amyloid disease, the above-described styrylbenzene derivative is efficacious in treating amyloid diseases. In addition, it has an affinity for an amyloid protein and, therefore, is effective in detecting amyloid proteins. Accordingly, use of the above compound enables both of the treatment and monitoring of amyloid diseases.
