Abstract:
A video signal processing method provided with: a data generation step which calculates the frequencies of occurrence of a predetermined range of luminance levels for a luminance signal; a luminance distribution calculation step which calculates the luminance level distribution for a range of luminance levels in which the frequencies of occurrence calculated at the data generation step are greater than or equal to a first threshold value; a frequency correction step which corrects the frequencies of occurrence calculated in the data generation step, based on the luminance level distribution calculated in the luminance distribution calculation step; and a non-linear correction processing step which processes the luminance signal by non-linear correction processing, based on the frequencies of occurrence corrected in the frequency correction step.
