Abstract:
A warning device (1) comprises: a region recognition unit (11) that recognizes a region included in an image which has captured the surroundings of a travelling vehicle; a first determination unit (12) that determines the necessity of character recognition, on the basis of the type of that recognized region; a character recognition unit (13) that performs character recognition on the recognized region if character recognition was determined to be necessary; a second determination unit (14) that determines the necessity of a warning, on the basis of the results of the character recognition and vehicle specification information; and an output unit (15) that outputs warning information if a warning was determined to be necessary.
