Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a wear inhibitor which has high wear prevention effect; and a lubricating oil composition which contains this wear inhibitor. The present invention relates to a wear inhibitor which contains a copolymer (A) that comprises, as essential constituent monomers, a monomer (a) represented by general formula (1) and a monomer (b) represented by general formula (2), wherein the weight ratio (b/a) of the monomer (b) to the monomer (a) in the copolymer (A) is 0.0005 to 0.12. (In general formula (1), A1 represents a polymerizable group; -X1-, -X2- and -X3- each independently represent a group expressed by -O- or -NH-; R1 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R2 represents an alkylene group having 2 to 20 carbon atoms; R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 44 carbon atoms, a phenyl group that has a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 44 carbon atoms, an acyl group that has a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 44 carbon atoms, or a benzoyl group that has a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 44 carbon atoms; p represents an integer of 1 to 100; and in cases where p is 2 or more, the plurality of R2 moieties and the plurality of X3 moieties may be the same as or different from each other, respectively.) (In general formula (2), R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; -X4- represents a group expressed by -O- or -NH-; R5 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and -X5- represents a group expressed by -O- or -NH-.)
