Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device in which both improvement of transportation accuracy of a transport roller performing precise transportation of a script to a reading section, and a reduction in device size are taken into account.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes power transmission means for transmitting power of a driving source to a transport roller and a discharge roller. The power transmission means includes multiple gears, including an input gear provided at a branch position for branching to first and second power transmission paths, and transmitting the power of the driving source to the first and second power transmission paths, a first gear group constituting the first power transmission path, and a second gear group constituting the second power transmission path, and constituted of smaller number of gears than the first gear group. The second gear group includes a transport roller drive gear, and, when viewing from a medium width direction, crossing a medium transport direction, it is placed at the inside of a curved reversal path, and at least a part of the transport roller drive gear enters the inside of the medium transport region in a medium width direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
