To provide a method for crushing a waste fluorescent tube which prevents glass pieces and fluorescent materials from scattering at the time of crushing the waste fluorescent tube and prevents mercury from leaking to the outside even when a relatively small sized sucking device is used, and to provide a method for peeling the fluorescent materials which enhances work efficiency and improves work environment when peeling, from the glass pieces, the fluorescent materials sticking to the glass pieces obtained by crushing the waste fluorescent tube.
In the method for treating the waste fluorescent tube 1, the waste fluorescent tube 1 is introduced into a device for crushing its glass tube 11 inside a cover 4 for recovery of glass pieces while sucking air inside the cover 4 covering the introduced waste fluorescent tube 1. Then, in the method, mouthpiece parts 120, 121 are separated and eliminated after crushing the glass tube 11 of the waste fluorescent tube 1, and the fluorescent materials are peeled from the crushed glass pieces by adding vibration to a whole abrasive tank 91 while dropping the crushed glass pieces into the abrasive tank 91 detachable from a device main body.
