To provide an image forming apparatus transiting optional functions to a usable state after a user acquires some knowledge about the functions, and allowing the user to fully understand and master the functions in a comparatively early stage after the user starts using the apparatus.
The image forming apparatus 1 is equipped with optional functions established invalid at the initial state. The image forming apparatus 1 comprises: a direction means 20 for directing validation of the optional functions, a demonstration execution means 12 for executing demonstration of the optional functions when validation of optional function is directed from the directions means 20; and an optional function management means 11a for transiting the optional functions to the usable states after demonstration of the optional functions by the demonstration execution means 12 is completed.
