Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool comprising a composite sintered compact consisting of a TiCN-based cermet reducing a tungsten use amount and a WC-based hard metal.SOLUTION: In a cutting tool comprising a composite sintered compact of a TiCN-based cermet layer and a WC-based hard metal layer, the outer peripheral part including a cutting edge is composed of the iron group metal components of 4-17 mass% and the balance of the WC-based hard metal, and the inside surrounded by the outer peripheral part is composed of the TiCN-based cermet layer. The width of the outer peripheral part comprising the WC-based hard metal layer is 0.03-0.15 time of the diameter of the maximum incircle in a cutting face. The TiCN-based cermet layer is composed of at least one of the same layer. The TiCN-based cermet layer adjacent to the WC-based hard metal layer contains, in mass%, at least 4-25% of the iron group metal components, less than 15% of W, 2-15% of Mo, 2-10% of Nb and 0.2-2% of Cr. Besides, the inclusion ratio of Co to the total of Co and Ni being the iron group metal components is 0.5 to 0.8 (mass ratio).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
