Abstract:
Provided is a novel damping force-adjustable damper capable of suppressing as much as possible noise and vibration caused by a change in the flow of operating fluid inside the damper during operation. This damping force-adjustable damper has: a main valve for restricting the flow of operating fluid from one chamber to the other chamber; a pilot chamber for pressing the main valve in a valve closing direction; an introduction path resistance element for introducing the operating fluid in the one chamber into the pilot chamber while limiting the flow of the operating fluid; and a control valve capable of regulating pressure within the pilot chamber by controlling the flow of the operating fluid to the other chamber, the operating fluid having flowed into the pilot chamber through the introduction path resistance element. The control valve has: a linear solenoid; a mover driven in the axial direction of a piston by the linear solenoid; a valve body provided at one end of the mover; and a valve seat on which the valve body sits and which opens and closes a communication path for providing communication between the pilot chamber and the other chamber. The damping force-adjustable damper is characterized in that: the introduction path resistance element, the valve body, and the valve seat are arranged in that order from the one chamber toward the other chamber; and the operating fluid flows in one direction without returning from the one chamber toward the other chamber.
