Title:
ACTION LIMITING DEVICE FOR ROBOT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03266103
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable speedy urgent stop processing without doing a person harm seriously even if the robot runs away by limiting the current of a driving source when the intrusion of a body into the movement range of the robot is detected. CONSTITUTION:When the person opens a door 4a and enters a protection fence 4, that is detected by an opening/closing detection switch 5, whose detection signal is sent to a robot controller 3. Consequently, a changeover switch 8 is switched and the output of a motor driving circuit 7 is sent out to a motor 9 through a current limiting circuit 10 to limit the torque of the motor 9. In this case, a phenomenon in the runaway of the robot 2 is caused by the overcurrent of the motor 9, so that current limiting circuit 10 monitors the current flowing through the power line of the motor 9 and cuts off the supply to the motor 9 if the current becomes excessive. Consequently, even if the robot 2 runs away, the speedy emergency stop processing becomes possible without injuring the person seriously.
